Description

Hong Kong's current zero-Covid strategy is not a viable long-term option, and the city needs to adopt a vaccine pass system to boost vaccination rates and reopen its borders. Despite the Omicron variant causing more infections, it appears to be less severe than previous strains, potentially offering Hong Kong an opportunity to reopen before Christmas 2022. The government should implement a vaccine pass system by March 2022, aiming to have over 90% of the eligible population vaccinated by May 2022 and gradually reopening to the international community.
