In December 2020, Israel had begun a mass vaccination campaign against COVID-19 using the Pfizer BNT162b2 vaccine, which had led to a sharp decrease in infections. However, a resurgence had occurred in mid-June 2021. On July 30, 2021, a third booster dose was approved for individuals 60 years or older who had received the second dose at least five months prior. The booster campaign was expanded to younger age groups who had received a second dose five or more months earlier. The talk had presented Israels national database and the statistical methods used to analyze it, discussing the quantification of two-dose waning immunity and the main analysis of booster-dose effectiveness for all age groups.
