In response to Dr. Dennis Lam's question, Secretary for Health Professor Lo Chung-mau provided information on the Hong Kong government's efforts to boost vaccination rates among the elderly, monitor COVID-19 variants, and the number of severe illness and death cases in 2022. The government has implemented various measures to encourage and facilitate vaccination among the elderly, including the Home Vaccination Service, outreach programs, and mobile vaccination stations. The Centre for Health Protection and the University of Hong Kong have been monitoring COVID-19 variants and sharing data with international organizations. A total of 9,343 and 2,347 death cases were recorded in the first and second half of 2022, respectively.
