HKUMed discovers a novel vaccine strategy
to prevent SARS-CoV-2 nasal infection
Abstract
Researchers at HKUMed have conducted a study to identify an effective vaccine regimen to prevent SARS-CoV-2 nasal infection. The study found that a combination of intramuscular PD1-RBD-DNA vaccine and intranasal LAIV-HK68-RBD vaccine induced strong mucosal neutralising antibodies and lung resident memory CD8 T cells, preventing live SARS-CoV-2 nasal challenges in animal models. The research is published in EBioMedicine journal.
