Professor Yuen Kwok-yung on Public Health Self-Isolation Arrangements for Students
Description
Hong Kong University, as a public institution, has a social responsibility to ensure the safety of its students and the community. Although the students returning from mainland China are not considered high-risk, the university still requires them to undergo self-quarantine as a precautionary measure. The university has arranged for students to stay in hotels with independent bathroom facilities to meet the self-quarantine requirements. The university also conducts daily temperature checks and monitors the students for any signs of respiratory infection. The risk of infection to hotel staff, other guests, and nearby residents is considered minimal as the students follow strict hygiene practices and wear masks when going out.
